Bookseller Christian Nardi of the kids' bookstore Bee Hive in Santa Fe, N.M., recommends "Vote for Our Future" by Margaret McNamara and Micah Player.
The children at Stanton Elementary School are curious why their school closes on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. They learn all about voting and elections, and even though they are too young to vote, they get involved by encouraging people in their community to do so. The increased turnout makes a difference in the election.
Nardi said the book has bold, colorful pictures featuring diverse characters, and she recommends this as story for sparking conversations about voting in family and classroom settings.
