Starting this week, long-term care facilities across Minnesota may allow residents to have visitors indoors. The state Health Department released new guidance Friday permitting in-person visits from what they call “essential caregivers.” This is the first time such visits have been allowed since mid-March, when facilities quickly closed their doors to halt the spread of COVID-19.
MPR News host Cathy Wurzer talked with Shelley Kendrick to learn how the change is being rolled out. Kendrick is the president and CEO of Ecumen, which operates long-term care facilities across the state.
