Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin says stimulus checks will start arriving in Americans’ bank accounts within weeks. But some are concerned that aid won’t make it to many people who need it, including working immigrants across the country.
In Minnesota, thousands of families are trying to adapt to new economic conditions and fears about access to economic and medical aid — in some cases with limited English proficiency.
MPR News host Cathy Wurzer spoke with Ruby Lee and Bo Thao-Urabe for more on the situation faced by immigrant communities around the state. Lee is president of CLUES, a nonprofit serving Minnesota’s Latino population, and Thao-Urabe leads the Coalition of Asian American Leaders.
