Daily dose of sweetness: Healing words from handmade cards

We're not crying, you're crying.

OK, we are crying.

Hospitals all across the country are restricting visitors right now because of the coronavirus pandemic. But some kind folks are making sure patients who are alone don't feel like they are alone.

"A group today dropped off hand-made get well cards for any patients who need a lift," tweeted former Pioneer Press journalist-turned-nurse John Welsh.

"Beverley Lindell got the surprise of her life on her 84th birthday, when her husband of 63 years walked in the house after being sprung from his nursing home," Huppert reports.

Like hospitals, nursing homes have also restricted visitors in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
