Woman dies in Brooklyn Park shooting

Brooklyn Park police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Wednesday afternoon.

Police officers were in the area of 5800 Brookdale Dr. around 4:20 p.m. when they were flagged down by a group of people, who identified an unresponsive woman who had just been shot.

Officers gave the woman first aid and took her to a hospital, where she died, according to Brooklyn Park Deputy Police Chief Mark Bruley.

Witnesses said the woman had been talking to a man in the parking lot when she was shot. Investigators identified a male suspect, who was arrested for possible homicide. He is in custody at the Brooklyn Park jail.

The case remains under investigation.
