It's been 50 years since Tommy Roe topped the Billboard pop chart with "Dizzy."
Roe, who had six Top Ten hits in the course of his career, toured the U.K. with the Beatles in 1963. Initially, he was the headliner — but as Beatlemania grew, they swapped places on the bill.
Roe grew up in the Atlanta neighborhood known as Cabbagetown, and he recently wrote a memoir about his life in music. It's called "From Cabbagetown to Tinseltown and Places In Between."
