For the first time, The Center for Disease Control and Prevention is issued guidelines for treating children with concussions.
The new guidelines include a checklist for medical practitioners dealing with "mild traumatic brain injuries."
MPR News' regular medical analyst Dr. Jon Hallberg says it's a step in the right direction.
"We've had ways of assessing traumatic brain injury — concussions — for quite some time," said Dr. John Hallberg. "But we've never had this really nice checklist to through to help."
Dr. Hallberg joined All Things Considered host Tom Crann to discuss the new guidelines.
