Five previously unreleased tracks from the beginning of his career are part of a new Bruce Springsteen compilation "Chapter and Verse" which comes out today.
The album is a companion to Springsteen's autobiography "Born To Run" which is due out next week.
Among the subjects he writes about is his theory on why the E Street Band has stayed together for so long: "Democracy in rock bands, with very few exceptions, is a ticking time-bomb. If I was going to assume the workload and responsibility, I might as well assume the power."
