This week on Art Hounds: Capitol art, ephemeral poetry and the Little Mekong Night Market.

Musician Liz Wilkinson was impressed by "Reframe Minnesota," an exhibition by indigenous artists who present an alternative narrative to the artwork that hangs in the state Capitol. In particular, Wilkinson was struck by the bold, colorful work of Jim Denomie, who addresses the atrocities of the state's history head-on. The show is on display at All My Relations Arts in Minneapolis.

Writer and sculptor Ann Klefstad recommends the exhibition of Tim White's photography at the Duluth Art Institute. His black-and-white photographs are paired with the words of Duluth writers. The show "In and Out of Context" runs through Sept. 2; this Saturday there will be an "ephemeral poetry" workshop, where people can write poems on cookies and eat them or fly them on paper airplanes.

Actor, playwright and teaching artist Eric Sharp is looking forward to the third annual Little Mekong Night Market this Saturday and Sunday. The festival, which takes place from 5 p.m. to midnight Saturday and from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday, is a celebration of the Southeast Asian community that has made Frogtown its home. It features Asian hip-hop, arts and crafts and a variety of tasty food (kimchi fries!).
