It's unclear if a deal will emerge on transportation before the end of the legislative session early next week.

Legislative leaders haven't been able to compromise on how to pay for upgrades to Minnesota's roads and bridges. That's despite transportation issues being a top priority for Democrats and Republicans alike. Where would the extra money go if approved? Officials say the list of "urgent" projects is only growing.

Minnesota Department of Transportation Commissioner Charlie Zelle discussed the situation with MPR News host Cathy Wurzer.
