"Kyrie" by Mr. Mister was No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart 30 years ago.
The refrain "kyrie elesion" is Greek for "lord have mercy" and is used frequently in early Christian liturgies.
Richard Page, who wrote the song, says that for him it's a meditative prayer that doesn't subscribe to any Christian dogma. He says it's about realizing that what we're doing as people is insignificant compared to the universe.
This was Mr. Mister's second and final No. 1 song.
