Hallberg's Picture of Health: Concerns with acid reflux meds

A while back it was hard to escape ads for what they call the "purple pill."

Its commercial name is Prilosec, the popular drug that's part of a class known as "proton pump inhibitors," which are used to treat acid reflux and other stomach problems.

Now there are concerns about long-term use of PPIs, including possible links to kidney disease and dementia.
