The Minnesota Department of Transportation is closing a major Mississippi River crossing Saturday in St. Paul.
The Highway 52 Lafayette Bridge east of downtown will shut down so crews can install anti-icing equipment on the northbound side of the bridge, move barricades to widen lanes and do other work.
The northbound side of the bridge will close from 5:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. between Concord Street and East 7th Street. The southbound lanes of the bridge between East 7th Street and Concord Street will close from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m.
MnDOT is telling drivers to detour east along Interstate 94, Highway 61 and Interstate 494 to get around the detour in both directions.
