How Minnesota could welcome immigrant kids

A wave of children pouring into the southern United States from Central America has overwhelmed the U.S. immigration system in recent months.

This week, Rep. Keith Ellison called a meeting to discuss how Minnesota should prepare for a possible influx of these young immigrants. He said the state has the capacity to help - and should do so.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with John Keller, the executive director of the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota. He was at the meeting and talked about some of the hurdles specific to this immigrant group and why their situation is different from previous refugees who've settled here.
