Minnesota:
Both the DFL and the GOP held their endorsement conventions this weekend.

The Republican convention was one of the most exciting in years, with the U.S. Senate endorsement ending after delegates voted 10 times. St. Louis County Commissioner Chris Dahlberg made a surprisingly strong showing on nearly every ballot until Mike McFadden took a late lead and ultimately won. (MPR News)
Meanwhile, delegates chose Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson to be their candidate to run against Gov. Mark Dayton in November. He's nevertheless heading to a primary against Marty Seifert, Scott Honour, and Rep. Kurt Zellers, R-Maple Grove. (MPR News)
In choosing Johnson and McFadden, it appears party activists want someone who can beat Dayton and Sen. Al Franken this fall - not necessarily the most conservative candidate. (MPR News)
The DFL convention in Duluth was far more predictable.
Delegates endorsed Franken and Dayton for second terms.
Rep. Steve Simon is their candidate to run for Secretary of State. (MPR News)
In other news, Dayton vetoed a bill that would have ended lottery games on the Internet. (MPR News)
