Honour picks Housley as running mate

Republican gubernatorial hopeful Scott Honour has chosen state Sen. Karin Housley, R-St. Mary's Point, as his running mate.

“Karin, like me, has spent most of her life working in the private sector, not in government,” Honour said. “She has the ‘get things done’ approach that is so critical to making our state better for all Minnesotans.”

Housley was elected in 2012.

Honour is the last potential Republican candidate for governor to announce his running mate.

He has long said he would compete in the primary, and today reiterated that commitment. He also said he would not put his name in the running to be considered for the endorsement at the party’s convention.

Among the potential GOP candidates, Honour has had the most fundraising success, reporting raising $250,000 in the first quarter of the year.

But a big chunk of that money has come from his own checking account, according to campaign finance records.
