U.S. Chamber of Commerce weighs in on Minnesota race for Congress

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has included Republican Stewart Mills' 8th District bid for Congress in a 13-state media buy.

The Chamber describes the effort as "a massive campaign to protect and expand our pro-free enterprise majority in the House, and make gains in the Senate."

With his business background, "Mills knows firsthand how Washington regulations cost jobs, and he supports tax relief for small businesses and responsible Minnesota mining for good jobs," the Chamber press release said.

Mills, whose family owns Fleet Farm, is challenging first-term DFL U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan.

In 2012, the 8th district was one of the most competitive races in the country.

But it is unclear if that will be the case this year. For instance, the Cook Political Report has the district in its "Leans Democratic" column.

There's no word from the Chamber on how much it plans to spend on the Mills ad or how long it will run.

The ad runs for ten days. But a Chamber spokesperson declined to say how much the group was spending on the spot.
