Today's Morning Edition music is from 50 years ago today, when the Beatles were almost finished filming their first movie which at the time had the working title "Beatlemania." After working all day and into the night, Ringo Starr was heard to say "it's been a hard day." Then he looked up and noticed that it was dark and added the word "night." That inspired John Lennon to write what would become the title track for the movie. The Beatles recorded it the next day.
