Seventh Congressional District Rep. Collin Peterson has raised nearly $218,000 since the start of the year.
Peterson's district, which leans Republican, is being targeted by national GOP groups. State Sen. Torrey Westrom, R-Elbow Lake, is challenging Peterson, but he hasn't posted his fundraising figures yet. At the end of last year, Westrom posted about $$84,000 in contributions.
Between this year and last year, Peterson has raised about $745,000. At the moment, he has roughly $522,000 in the bank after expenditures.
Most of Peterson's total contributions for this election cycle - about $584,000 - have come from political action committees. As the top Democrat on the U.S. Agriculture Committee, Peterson has pulled in large contributions from the soybean, corn, cotton, sugar and rice industries.
But Peterson is also getting wide support from the energy industry, including $1,500 from the Koch Industries PAC, $1,000 from the Xcel Energy PAC, and $1,500 from the Arch Coal PAC.
