Three people, including a 5-year-old girl, died in a car crash north of Mankato on Sunday.
The Minnesota State Patrol says Lindi Paul and her daughter Emma, of St. Peter, were driving in a Dodge Caliber southbound on Highway 169, approaching the junction with Highway 14. Authorities said Paul lost control of her car about 1 p.m. and crossed the median into oncoming traffic. Her car hit a Ford 150 pickup truck head on. It was driven by Michael Oboyle of Marion, S.D.. Oboyle was also killed.
Another woman and two children, ages 4 and 8, were also riding in the truck and were hurt in the crash. All of the people in the crash, except for Lindi Paul, were wearing seat belts.
It's the third crash with multiple deaths in three weeks. Four young men were killed in a crash near Sleepy Eye on March 7, and three Carleton College students were killed in a crash near Northfield on Feb. 28.
