Today's music is from violinist David Garrett and his take on Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit." Garrett will be performing tonight at the State Theater in Minneapolis. Born in Germany, Garrett was a child prodigy who first played with the Hamburg Philharmonic orchestra at the age of 10. He studied with Itzhak Perlmann and at Julliard. Lately, Garrett has been committed to making classical music more accessible to young people. The music performed during his current "Crossover" tour combines classical elements with pop, rock and rhythm and blues.
