Minnesota Orchestra musicians and fans are still waiting to learn who will become music director of the ensemble.

A week and a half ago the orchestra board agreed on a leadership choice but didn't make it public, saying it needed time to meet with key individuals.

The primary question is whether former Music Director Osmo Vanska will return, after resigning during the 16-month lockout. Vanska has said that for the orchestra to heal, President and CEO Michael Henson must leave. But, Henson has strong support from the board, including from new board chair Gordon Sprenger.

Bill Eddins, who was an associate conductor with the Minnesota Orchestra in the '90s and is now music director of the Edmonton Symphony, spoke with MPR News about what's happening with the orchestra now.
