A body pulled out of the Chicago River by police Wednesday afternoon has been identified as Lauren Li, 21, of Burnsville.

Li was identified by her father, Chicago's Cook County medical examiner said. An autopsy is set for Thursday.

According to police, Li, and her friends Ken Hoang and Quoc-Viet Phan Hoang, were walking along Chicago's river walk when Ken Hoang stopped to take photos of the ice with his cell phone. He dropped the phone, then jumped a fence to grab it.

Ken Hoang slipped into the water, and the others went to rescue him. Li also fell into the river and disappeared.

Ken Hoang of St. Paul, was pronounced dead after he was pulled from the river Monday.

Quoc-Viet Phan Hoang, 23, was rescued from the river Monday and was released from a Chicago hospital Wednesday. In a statement, he said he felt helpless as one of his friends died in his arms and the other drifted away into the icy river.

Police boats aren't docked at that river location -- they have to travel through Lake Michigan to get to the river, police said.

A victim from Texas also recently drowned in the Chicago River.
