Forty years ago today, the famous music venue CBGBs opened in New York City. The club's full name was actually CBGB-OMFUG which stands for "Country Bluegrass Blues and Other Music For Uplifting Gormandizers." It quickly evolved from a roots music venue to the home base for many of New York's most influential punk and new wave bands, bands like the Ramones, Television, Blondie and the Talking Heads.
