Minnesota Twins All-Star catcher Joe Mauer and his wife Maddie are new parents today.
Maddie gave birth to twins Emily and Maren this morning. The girls are the Mauers' first children. The couple married in December.
The St. Paul native was pulled from the lineup in the Twins game against the Angels in Anaheim last night and flew home for the birth. He's on the team's paternity list today.
Mauer's replacement in last night's game, Chris Hermann, also hit a 10th inning grand slam to propel the Twins to a 10-3 win the game, the second straight over the Angels.
