Vikings: New stadium tickets for sale after ’13 season, sales center coming

The Vikings are fleshing out their plans for fans in the new stadium, at least a little.

The team posted a new Q&A on their website this afternoon. Among the nuggets of news therein: we may not know what the markup is for the new seats -- or the potential for those much-fretted-about seat licenses -- before 2014.

Here's how team spokesman Jeff Anderson explained it at Vikings.com:

"The sales process will likely begin after the 2013 NFL season, but our goal is to develop a fair system that ensures Season Ticket Owners will have priority for seats at the new stadium. Each current Mall of America Field Season Ticket Owner who maintains season tickets during the Vikings seasons at TCF Bank Stadium will have priority for seats at the new stadium. The Vikings will also establish a waitlist where fans who are not current Season Ticket Owners will be placed based on availability once STOs have selected their seats."

Note that there's no mention yet of the seat licenses, either how much they'll be or when we might find out how many seats will have them.

There IS some mention of the other burning issue at the Metrodome: tailgating. The team is assuring fans that the so-called "Purple lots" will be available for at least one more year, even after the groundbreaking in October. And the team is suggesting that stadium watchers shouldn't expect the groundbreaking in early October: the Vikings will be flying back from their game in London with the Steelers on Sept. 30.
