State transportation officials say motorists traveling south on Interstate 35 outside of Duluth should expect new delays on Sunday.
The 10-mile stretch of interstate between Proctor and Scanlon is already down to one lane in each direction because of a repaving project that started in 2012. But the Minnesota Department of Transportation says motorists should plan for additional potential delays.
Runners, spectators and visitors will leave Duluth after Saturday's Grandma's Marathon and could cause backups as they head for the Twin Cities and other points south.
MnDOT is urging motorists to plan to take extra time to make the trip and to travel during off-peak times, like morning or late evening, to avoid the congestion.
