A postal worker has been killed in an apparent workplace accident in Brooklyn Center.
Police say they were called to the post office on Lee Avenue this morning after a report of a truck accident outside. Officers found a postal worker backing a large truck up to a loading dock had struck and killed another postal worker just before 7:30 a.m..
"The employee that passed away was just reporting for duty. They were just coming into work that day, he wasn't working yet, and they weren't working together," said Commander Tim Gannon, spokesman for the Brooklyn Center police.
Gannon said the victim had been on foot and died at the scene of the accident. He declined to identify either the driver or the employee killed, but said that no foul play is suspected.
Brooklyn Center police, postal authorities and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are looking into the matter.
