Five years after the collapse of the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis, the state is still dealing with some of the wreckage. MnDOT plans to sell the remaining steel from the bridge for scrap.
But if a bill currently in the state House is signed into law, historians will be among those who first get the opportunity to acquire pieces of the bridge.
MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Adam Scher, a senior curator at the Minnesota Historical Society, about the proposal. He's already gathered some items from the I-35 collapse to use in exhibits.
