The number of new cases of Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia is projected to double in the U.S. by the year 2050. There's still no medical cure, and for many researchers much of the focus is on prevention.

That's the case for Dr. Kristine Yaffe. She directs the memory disorders program at the San Francisco VA Medical Center and is a professor at the University of California-San Francisco.

Dr. Yaffe is in Minnesota for a day-long dementia conference tomorrow. The Alzheimer's Association of Minnesota and North Dakota, along with the Mayo Clinic hosts the event, which draws people from all over the country.
