Typically at this time of year in Minnesota you can count on being able to walk or drive out on our state's frozen lakes and ponds. But not this year.
Warmer than average temperatures and a lack of snow cover have kept thick ice from forming. And it's become dangerous for fishermen, skaters and ATV and snowmobile users.
On Wednesday night, at least twenty ice fishermen had to be rescued from Mille Lacs Lake, when a piece of ice they were on broke away. Cathy Wurzer talks with DNR water safety specialist Tim Smalley about ice safety tips.
