Democrats in Wisconsin did not win enough seats in recall elections Tuesday to take over the state senate. Democrats picked up two seats, but needed three.
The recall elections were prompted by massive protests over Republican Gov. Scott Walker's plans to curb the collective bargaining rights of public employees. A Democratic senate would have allowed Democrats to heavily influence the governor's agenda in the future.
MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke about the election results with Joe Heim, a professor of political science at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse.
