Last week Republican lawmakers said that a budget deal was close to being made, but Governor Dayton indicated in an interview today on Morning Edition that negotiations are not as close as they seem.
On top of disagreeing on how big the budget should be and how to slice it up, both sides are still debating policy issues of the budget bills as well.
MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with political reporter Tom Scheck for more on the politics behind the budget negotiations.
