DFL Gov. Mark Dayton continued his brisk, post-session veto pace Friday by rejecting four more bills.
Dayton vetoed legislation to roll back restrictions on carbon dioxide emissions by energy utilities, the Game and Fish bill, a bill modifying who is eligible to be represented by a public defender and the Personal Responsibility in Food Consumption Act, which is also known as the Cheeseburger bill.
In his emissions bill veto letter, Dayton wrote that "Minnesota must continue on a path of progress to a sustainable, clean and safe energy future, rather than increasing our already heavy reliance upon coal-fired electricity"
The governor said he vetoed the Cheeseburger Bill, which would have protected fast-food chains from lawsuits over weight gain, because it would have created "too broad an exemption from liability."
Earlier this week Dayton vetoed the Republican budget bills and a bill that would require a photo ID to vote and symbolically vetoed the bill that put on the November 2012 ballot an amendment that would ban same-sex marriage.
