A woman attacked as she was cross-country skiing with her children in Minneapolis last week is calling for neighbors to rally together at Powderhorn Park, where the attack occurred.
The woman posted a statement on the E-Democracy Internet mailing list for Minneapolis. Although she did not identify herself, she offered new details into the attack. Four teens were arrested for sexually assaulting her at gunpoint, as well as raping two other young women nearby.
The teens are expected to face rape and robbery charges.
The first victim said she didn't blame the teens for the attack and said they were, quote, "hurting, scared children who didn't get the kind of nurture, love and care that they needed." She also disputed reports that she'd been raped.
The woman called for friends and neighbors to attend a planned vigil on Wednesday night, to show that the park was still a safe place for the public and for recreational activities.
