A private prison closed since last January in western Minnesota may reopen. If that happens, it will be a welcome economic lift for the community of Appleton.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Minnesota Public Radio News reporter Mark Steil about that and other stories he covers southwestern Minnesota.
