Minnesota is giving residents another chance to get rebates for energy-efficient appliances.
The state website is already live as of Wednesday morning. It offered residents nearly a million dollars in rebates to encourage them to purchase dishwashers, freezers and other appliances that carry energy star ratings.
The money is what is left of Minnesota's portion of a $300 million stimulus program intended to save energy by replacing inefficient home appliances. Minnesotans claimed most of the state's $5 million share this spring.
But some of those rebates went uncollected, and the state is reopening eligibility for what could be thousands of purchasers. The program offers $200 for refrigerators and washing machines, a $100 for freezers and $150 for dishwashers.
Unlike the spring program, however, people claiming this latest rebate offer must have already purchased an appliance and must submit evidence they've purchased the item.
