Five years ago, 89.3 in the Twin Cities became the Current. That's right; you've been seeing those maroon ovals on cars in the Twin Cities for five years now.
The Current came to life with this rap that celebrates the way we live here in the upper Midwest, and for a lot of fans, the station has become one more part of the fabric of life here. There's a fifth anniversary celebration tonight at First Avenue with Solid Gold, Mason Jennings, Twilight Hours and more.
Three of the DJs who were there at the start, Steve Seel who these days holds down morning drive with Jill Reilly, and Mark Wheat who does evenings, talked with Tom Crann about those first five years of the station.
