Lake Hiawatha Park is getting a new piece of public art. "Listening Vessel" is an interactive listening device in the shape of a concave semi-sphere, made out of granite. It amplifies the sounds from the lake, such as wind, waves and waterfowl, as well as sounds of the city. The work, created by sculptor Craig David, is designed to encourage viewers to explore the natural environment of Lake Hiawatha, as well as their own inner musings and imagination. The dedication of the vessel takes place at 11am today.
