Gov. Tim Pawlenty says he will not wait long to decide what programs to cut in order to balance the state budget that has a $2.7 billion deficit. The governor says he will use his unallotment power to get the job done.
MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Gene Merriam, who was in the State Senate when unallotment was used in the 1980s.
