He grew up in Denmark, but worked in the US and in Ireland. When he decided to write a novel, he wanted to capture the distinctive language of Ireland's remote west coast.
The New York Times describes his new thriller "Darling Jim" as an "erotic fairy tale run amok in alien literary forms." It's a modern tale about three sisters who fall under the spell of a dangerously attractive travelling storyteller.
Moerk told Minnesota Public Radio's Euan Kerr the book was inspired by a clipping from an Irish newspaper.
