Jeremy Smith says his commute time quadrupled now that Minnesota has closed the Highway 43 bridge over the Mississippi River at Winona. Smith lives in Wisconsin, but works at a canoe shop in Winona.

Meanwhile, Winona State University Assistant Professor of Physics Nathan Moore is using the bridge closure to teach his beginning physics class the concept of relative velocity.
All Things Considered host Tom Crann asked Prof. Moore to help Jeremy Smith plan his commute.
