Photos: Benilde-St. Margaret's state hockey win

The Benilde-St. Margaret's boys' hockey team won the state high school championship Saturday night with a 5-1 win over Hill-Murray of St. Paul. Benilde-St. Margaret's players said the win was a tribute to sophomore Jack Jablonski, who was paralyzed in December after he was checked from behind.

Benilde-St. Margaret's caps emotional tourney with state title

Grant Besse scored five times -- including three times short-handed -- to lead the Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights past Hill-Murray 5-1 in the Class 2A state boys hockey championship.

St. Thomas notches 2nd Class A boys' hockey title

Alex Johnson notched two goals and two assists and David Zevnik made 20 saves as second-seeded St. Thomas Academy won its second consecutive Class A boys state hockey title with a 5-1 victory over No. 1 seed Hermantown at Xcel Energy Center on Saturday.

Timberwolves' Rubio out for season with torn ACL

Ricky Rubio's sensational rookie season has come to a devastatingly abrupt end. The Minnesota Timberwolves point guard will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL in his left knee, the team announced on Saturday.

Benilde-St. Margaret's goes for hockey title tonight

Benilde-St. Margaret's plays for the Minnesota state high school boys' hockey title tonight after trouncing Lakeville South 10-1 last night at the Xcel Energey Center in a Class AA semifinal. The win means the players have a chance to bring home the championship trophy for their injured teammate, Jack Jablonski, who was paralyzed in December when he was checked from behind during a game. The emotional aftermath of Jablonski's injury appears to be giving his team an edge.

Many downtown Mpls restaurants OK with sales taxes for stadium

If the Vikings stadium bill unveiled Friday becomes law, downtown Minneapolis restaurant patrons will pick up part of the tab for the new facility. The plan taps a set of existing Minneapolis sales taxes that currently support the city's Convention Center. But many downtown restaurateurs say they don't mind the taxes if it means the Vikings will stay in Minneapolis.

As Vikings stadium bill is unveiled, even supporters raise questions

The debate over a Vikings stadium will finally begin in earnest next week at the State Capitol, as legislative supporters officially introduce a bill outlining the details of how it will be built and who will pay for it. The text of the bill was released today, and shows that Gov. Dayton made a concession to try to get one key interest group on board.

Jablonski cheers as Benilde-St. Margaret's beats Edina

The boys high school hockey tournament in St. Paul is down to four teams in the class 2A semi-finals. One team fans have been keeping an especially close eye on is Benilde-St. Margaret's. That's because one of the players - 16-year-old Jack Jablonski - was paralyzed after he was checked from behind during a game in December. Last night Benilde's Red Knights upset Edina 3-2. And Jablonski was there to cheer them on.
