Paul McCartney wrote the song and is the only Beatle to perform on it. When the song was done, the other Beatles didn't want to release it as a single at first because it was so different than their other songs.

Pete Townsend lived near Buckingham Palace and drove a Packard hearse, which he parked out front. Townsend says the Queen Mother saw it and was offended and ordered the police to tow it away.
