With days remaining in the campaign national Democratic groups are spending money in Minnesota on behalf of Sen. Tina Smith. Her Republican opponent Karin Housley believes it’s because they think Smith will lose.
Democratic candidates for office in Minnesota have a cash edge over their Republican opponents in the final stretch of the 2018 midterm election, but outside groups are dwarfing them with a blitz of last-minute spending with just one week until Election Day.
It comes amid an intense and expensive race that has already topped $20 million in overall spending and is in its home stretch. Phillips is trying to unseat GOP U.S. House Rep. Erik Paulsen.
