The Republican National Convention wraps up in Milwaukee Thursday night with a speech from former President Donald Trump. And the Minneapolis City Council decides Thursday whether to approve a tentative union contract that would make Minneapolis police officers some of the highest paid in the state.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and other Biden-Harris campaign surrogates were in Milwaukee Wednesday to offer a rebuttal to Republican statements at their national convention. In Cohasset, Minn., about one million gallons of coal ash wastewater leaked from a power plant known as the Boswell Energy Center.

A strike by Minneapolis park workers continues. A week-long walkout was supposed to end Thursday. And the Hennepin County Attorney's Office has charged some two dozen people with felony rioting for allegedly shooting fireworks at others — including police — on July Fourth.
