Archdiocese suspends capital campaign, OKs some parish fundraising

Hear His Holiness the Dalai Lama's keynote address at the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize Forum in Minneapolis. He spoke on "Faith and Peace Day" March 1st. The Dalai Lama said we are all the same human beings, all 7 billion of us, and there is too much emphasis on our differences. The concept of "we" and "they" creates most of our major problems. The Dalai Lama said there is too much lying, cheating, bullying and killing in the world... when we all want the same right to achieve a happy life. Following his address, the Dalai Lama answered questions from the audience, moderated by MPR's Cathy Wurzer. The event is sponsored by Augsburg College and the University of Minnesota Humphrey School. The Dalai Lama spoke at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The Nobel Peace Prize Forum continues March 7-9th.

Archdiocese sends court sealed list of priests accused of child sexual abuse since 2004
Ramsey County Judge John Van de North had ordered the archdiocese to provide the names by Feb. 18. The archdiocese fought the order, arguing it would cause "irreparable harm to the Archdiocese and its clergy," but failed to convince Van de North to change it.
Priest searched online for sexual images of children, according to police report
The Twin Cities Archdiocese knew in 2004 that the Rev. Jon Shelley looked for sexual images of minors with Internet search terms such as "free naked boy pictures," according to documents released by St. Paul police.

Archdiocese criticizes story about how it disclosed clergy accused of sexual abuse
The MPR News story published Wednesday said the archdiocese has not disclosed a complete list of clergy accused of child sexual abuse. The story cited police reports, court records and the archdiocese's internal files. In its statement, the archdiocese said that it remains committed to disclosing "substantiated" claims of abuse.
