  • Marcheta Evans is the president of St. Catherine University. She became the institution’s 12th president — and first African American president — in July. She has served in leadership roles in higher education for nearly 30 years at both public and private institutions. She was the chancellor of Bloomfield College of Montclair State University in New Jersey, having led Bloomfield College as president before the two schools merged. Prior to that, she was provost and vice president for academic affairs at Our Lady of the Lake University in Texas and associate dean at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
