The pandemic has taken the lives of thousands of Minnesotans, but the pain of COVID spreads far beyond loss. The virus has exhausted health workers, left many with lingering health problems and hammered vulnerable communities. 

Host Angela Davis talks with two women whose lives have been altered by COVID-19.

  • Annie Gucinski is an ICU nurse in St. Cloud, Minn., who has cared for COVID patients since the pandemic started and experienced a toll on her own mental health

  • Emilia Gonzalez Avalos is executive director of Unidos-MN and cared for her father through his long battle with COVID. She hopes his experience can shine a light on the sacrifices made by undocumented front-line workers.
