Minnesota’s fishing opener is around the corner, but will there be as many walleye to catch? Warmer winters and hotter summers are changing their lake habitats, affecting everything from spawning to food sources.
Gretchen Hansen studies lakes and climate change as an assistant professor of fisheries ecology at the University of Minnesota. She joined Climate Cast this week to share what’s currently known about how climate change is affecting the prized fish.
